Laura came to me looking for a bespoke ladies wedding suit that would reflect her style without looking boxy and manly. She wanted a suit that made her feel smart, comfortable and most importantly – amazing on her wedding day.
We sat down and talked about what she liked, readied with a reference picture she had brought along. Laura told me the things she really liked about the suit in the photo and what she wanted to change. once the main style was established we looked at cloth options. In the end we went with a rich blue herringbone from Harrisons of Edinburgh Oyster bunch i have in stock. This cloth makes up really well and holds its shape without being too warm to wear. (Ive had my eye on it for some time) The cloth Laura chose has a bright blue and black weave so it reads as a really striking cloth while remaining understated.
The cut of the waistcoat and jacket shape to Laura’s figure to keep her suit feminine. The trousers are simply cut with side pockets and flattering. She will be able to use all the pieces together or separately after the wedding, the waistcoat with jeans and a t-shirt, the jacket just as smart/casually or the trousers with a smart shirt for work.
I don’t often make shirts but this time i really wanted to do something different. We complimented the suit with a light grey silk shirt with a plain front and diamante buttons on the collar and cuffs. After all, a plain white business shirt was not right for the occasion! I also used the lining of the jacket and waistcoat in the breast pocket that can be pulled out to double as a pocket square.
